Depot Administrator - Hamilton

Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide effective customer service to internal and external customers
  • Plan and manage operational implementation of run changes or charter, including driver advice, vehicle allocation/swaps as necessary
  • Check driver licencing,  medical and other statutory obligations in databases  and from weekly HR Event Summaries to ensure full compliance
  • Investigate and answer all parent/caregiver, Service Agent and Schools queries (email, phone, letter) and refer exceptional or statutory issues to manager for advice and guidance
  • Organise and advise drivers for training and liaise with Driver Trainers and Fleet Administrator for remedial training as directed by manager.
  • Input accidents and insurance information     accurately into the specified system.
  • Order the correct uniform as per Go Bus Uniform policy and standards
  • Ensure drivers’ standard weekly hours are loaded  into Zambion, inputting all charters and other exceptions to standard hours to approval stage for final checking and approval by manager
  • Other duties as listed in Position Description
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Car  (Class 1)  licence and preferably P endorsement
  • NZQA Level 2 or higher
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent communication skills and  a team player
  • Positive attitude and shows initiative
  • Good knowledge of Hamilton, and attention to detail is critical
  • Computer literate, and preferably with experience in mapping
  • Empathy and a responsible caring approach with children and young people
  • At least two years administration experience, preferably with a transport-related organisation

Depot Supervisor - Christchurch

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support the manager within the depot and its wider  operations
  • Direct the efficient running of the operation and promote teamwork amongst drivers.
  • Ensure correct  destination signs are displayed, manage detours, drivers comply with uniform policy
  • Take proactive steps to keep services on time, instruct drivers to take corrective steps to get back on time
  • Ensure all drivers report for duty and all shifts start on time. Replace sick drivers,  changeover  any bus that has broken down
  • Communicate professionally and effectively to drivers, coach and mentor.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety standards are met. Ensure when an incident/accident occurs that the necessary reports are completed and filed. Serious events must be communicated to a Senior Manager immediately, ideally Depot Manager first.
  • Liaise with workshop to attend breakdowns that you can’t solve by directing driver.
  • Supervision of Night Shift Cleaners

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Car  (Class 1) and Bus (Class 2 and 4)  licence
  • NZQA Level 3 or higher

Full Time Employment as an Urban Bus Driver

We have current full time roles available for Urban driving in Hamilton, Napier, Hastings, Tauranga and Christchurch.

Part Time Employment as a School Bus Driver

Part time employment as a school bus driver generally involves being available between the hours of 7.30am - 9.00am and then again 2.45pm - 4.30pm each day of the school term. The right applicant would be required to undergo some driver training and have a good rapport with students. Casual On-call drivers are required to fill in when the regular driver is on holiday or sick. A casual on-call driver may also be required to work outside normal hours and weekends.

Getting a P Endorsement Licence

After School and School Holiday Employment

From time to time Go Bus requires additional assistance in our workshops.

Duties involve: 

  • Cleaning Buses and painting wheels
  • Removing and preparing seats for upholstery
  • Sanding vehicles in preparation for painting
  • Running errands (drivers license required)
